I just bought a Team Gemini Light Brigade Knife. What is the best way to sharpen it? I'm new to Busse Knives. I have crock sticks, sharp maker and and Edge Pro(never used it just the stones). Do you sharpen it just like any other knife or is there a trick? Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Jerry recommends pulling the knife away from the edge on a ceramic rod.
Welcome to the club!

There are multiple sharpening threads in this forum, but Lennox recently has been putting together a great thread on sharpening found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1122565-The-Sharpening-Thread?highlight=sharpening

The information found in this thread is transferrable to most Busse knives including the Team Gemini. Good luck...

Welcome aboard pitt bull! I'm not very good at sharpening, but I have had some success stropping with a ceramic rod, and a leather strop.

Thanks for all the help. Can't wait till the knife gets here! I'm really looking forward to using it.

Beef's Lost quite a bit of weight.....:eek::D

I sharpened the one I have on my Edgepro and it's like a laserbeam now. (Put painters tape on everything but the very edge so you don't scratch up the rest of the blade.) BUT it's a flat V now, not convex like a lot of the guys here like. Just picked up a WorkSharp for convex edges although I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet.

There is nothing special about sharpening Busse knives or INFI steel. No tricks needed, just sharpen in any way that works for you.

I use my Sharpmaker on my TGLB on it works like a charm. Infi is one of the easier steels to sharpen in my experience.

The only reason I'm worried is because I have a NARC and can't seem to get a really sharp edge on it. Will the LBT be easier to sharpen?

The main reason people have trouble getting any knife sharp is that they are not matching the angle of the primary edge, and therefore are not sharpening the edge. Get a black Sharpie and color the edge bevel. then take a few passes with your sharpener. Now look very closely at the edge, and see where the black is missing ( a loupe or magnifier will help here). Are you sharpening right to the edge, or are you sharpening behind the edge? Adjust accordingly.

To make it easier, use RED Sharpie - the color contrasts well with polished steel, no mistaking shadows or reflections :thumbup:

I used the marker trick and got my NARC shaving. I still think I could get it sharper. I ordered a strop. Now I have to wait till my TGLB gets here. I think will be easier. I guess I just need more practice. Thanks to everyone for all the help

I sharpened my TGLB using 400 grit sandpaper on top of my strop, then stropping it afterwards with compound, then bare leather. I went full convex and knocked the shoulders off so it would cut a little nicer on small stuff.

Have you noticed any rust forming after stripping it?.
