May be I am blind or stupid.
Can not see the difference between 440C version and AUS 8.
I was told they look different, checked SOG site - do not see at all.
Duratec version also looks same, besides steel mark.
Is 440C version marked or not?

Okay... I'll try and clear things up a little with this.

The Duratech and AUS-8 look the same with the exception of the blade mark. The Duratech on is marked as Duratech and the AUS-8 version has no blade steel marking on it.

As for the 440c, well that one never really existed. It was originally listed as 440c, but that was a mistake and changed to AUS8. So, all of the Team Leader knives that you see listed as 440c are actually AUS-8.

I hope this helps out some, if not please let me know.

I just received my Team Leader in Durotech 20.

Does the blade geometry at the tip make it highly unsuitable for a survival knife? The Duratech might live up to it's name in edge durability and tensile strength (I haven't tested it yet) but would the point break easily if "it went up against nails, stones or anything harder than wood..."-i.e should I just use it as a camp knife or would the new steel make the tip suitable for a "survival knife" even that it appears thin and is not a drop point per se? My box contained just the knife and no warranty information. I have a BK9 but I was hoping to leave that heavy home and take the TL.
I can't return it to Savson as I can't find that card or the packing slip. :(

The steel on the Team Leader is more durable than an average steel, but I would still caution about prying with the blade. The knife is designed more as a field/camp knife and less a survival blade.

SOG Warratny information can be found on the website at http://www.sogknives.com/service/warranty/
