Tech II question for Ron

Hi, all. I just purchased a mint SOG Tech II knife and got to wondering about something. In the event that I ever needed a new sheath, could I use the Kydex sheath for the SOG Seal 2000? Or does SOG still sell the original Tech II Cordura sheath even though the knife has been discontinued? I was thinking that I've read that the Kydex sheath might rub/damage the softer Kraton handle. Thanks, Shane

(By the way, Ron. I absolutely love this knife!) :D

Hey Shane,

Ahhhh, the Tech II has to be among my favorite SOG fixed blade knives. Regarding replacement sheaths, I'm fairly certain (I'm writing from home and won't be back in the office till Tuesday) that we have a fair number (maybe a dozen or so) SOG Tech II nylon sheaths available for retail sales. If you're interested in finding out about what exactly we have, email our Retail Sales Department.

I wouldn't recommend using the SEAL 2000 Kydex sheath. Though it will fit just fine, as you've referenced, the softer Kraton handle material of the Tech will rub on the Kydex belt loop and wear at it. Unless this is not an issue for you, I wouldn't advise it.

Thanks, Ron. Although my sheath is fine, I plan on keeping this knife for quite some time and (being discontinued) I thought about getting a spare sheath before they "dry up". I just emailed the sales dept. inquiring about one. Thanks again! Shane

Eagle used to make a sheath with a pouch (for multitool etc.). This sheath would fit the seal-knife and the Tech II. I know of a dealer here in Denmark that has both the Tech II and the eagle-sheath that fits the knife. I think I will buy this set-up next week.
