I have a 320GB 2.5 inch HD that I pulled out of an old laptop (the laptop itself is DOA). The drive is still viable but it is partitioned into 4 separate drives. I want to reformat the drive to remove all partitions and keep it for use as a backup HD. How do I go about doing that?

Backup your data, then use a free program like mini tool partition wizard to format to ntfs. Here's a link to CNET: http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html. When you run the program a list of drives and partitions within the drives will show up. You just click the ones you want and click format. You can set them to one partition there. When you are ready hit apply and it'll make the changes you selected.

Excellent! Thank you very much. Problem solved. :)

No problem. You can get 2.5” sata enclosures for $10 online if you don't have one already.
