I can't get the horizontal planes to match when I swing 180 degrees.
Anyone else have this problem? any tips or how you may have gotten yours to read the same angle when it is spun to each side of the knife. I end up with a larger grind on one side of the blade.

Thanks

I don't have one but how far off are your angles when you pivot from 1 side to other? Does the angle difference repeat if you re-measure, flipping between front and back angles several times in a row?

What if you take something perfectly straight like a ruler and put it in the clamps with the same overhang in each clamp, and then flip and measure the angle?

Edit to add, just to be clear on what you're measuring, in the photo below, are you saying you put your angle cube on the knife itself (in the middle between the 2 clamps), let's say it reads 0.0 degrees, then you flip the pivot to the other side and put your angle cube in the same place on the knife and it reads for example 0.8 degrees? Or are you measuring something else?

Actually, the blade is tilted up 3 to 4 degrees more in one position then the other. Maybe I am not clamping the blade correctly? It is fairly level on a horizontal plane. As I tighten the clamps it seem to pull the horizontal blade vertically. Kind of hard to explain.

I don't have one either but my understanding is the back of the clamp can be adjusted so the top and bottom arms are parallel and the knife sits horizontally?

Ya, I tried to make adjustments but it didn't make much difference, hopefully somebody that has one can spell it out for me.

Is this a FFG knife?

Reading through the clamping instructions in the manual, the sequence for tightening the six screws looks complicated!

Hard to tell without having one to hand and their english is not perfect, but it seems like they must be tightened in a correct order so they meet the planes of the knife blade without skewing.

No not FFG, the manual refers to figure "3A" but there is no 3A illustration. Hopefully Paul will see this thread and come in and explain it. I am pretty mechanically inclined but can't seem to get a handle on this adjustment. Or better yet a youtube video.

Turn in the back screw until it opens the width enough for the spine of the blade then tighten the front screws to match the grind is basically how you do it. You might need to make some adjustments to the front and back as you go or even torque the blade a bit to get it to sit flat.

Thanks esurm, I have tried that there may be some other issues I have sent pics to Paul and will wait to hear what he has to say.
