Hi guys,

I will be heading to a rented house in Costa Rica for a couple of weeks and anticipate no sharp kitchen knives. I am bringing a razor sharp opinel 8 and one of these.

Dmt course and fine stone

My question is what technique do I use to get the best out of the stone?

Normally I use an edge leading swipe holding the stone stationary. Once I get a burr I switch sides then progress to an edge trailing swipe before switching sides.

Is this the correct technique for these little stones?

Thx

Thx. Wasn't sure if I should use this more like a guided system. Keep the blade stationary and move the stone or vice versa

Hate trying to cook at a new place with dull knives.

Yup, new things always bring new choices , if you got freehand technique down stick with it, you don't need the magna-guide clamp :D
