Techno cut test????.............

I like smaller folders and I think the Techno is such a cool little knife. I have never handled one but from all of the pictures, videos, and reviews I have seen online I just feel compelled to get one. I have seen/heard all of the comments on design, fit and finish, materials etc.......I haven't seen any reviews really commenting about it cutting abilities. I know this is a small 2.5" blade with a really thick spine so I am not expecting miracles from it...after all..."It is what it is". I did see one video of a user cutting some rope with it and it really looked like it was struggling. Was hoping to hear some comments on how it cuts or better yet see a cutting demo video.

Jdavis882/CrimsonTideShooter......if you happen to stumble across this post would love to see you do one of your cutting demo/test on this little blade. Don't expect it to match up with longer, thinner blades but would love some realistic, unbiased comments on it cutting abilities only.

I am sold on every other aspect of this knife and this is my only real doubt I have. Somebody please put it to rest:)

I've never done cut tests, but I can tell you that the Techno works fine for my daily uses. I never had to use unnecessary force to get through anything I was cutting.

It excels at shallow cuts, don't go for an apple or something like that and you won't really feel the spine thickness. Mine gets used for fishing line/mail/packages/anything honestly. Yes plenty of other knives will out cut it, but its a fun knife.

Slimman, The best thing that you can do is buy a Techno user here off the forum exchange and do your own testing. That way you would know whether the knife is a fit for YOUR needs. If you buy a user here at a decent price, you can probably turn around and sell it for the same price if it's not the right knife for you. The most you would be out is one way shipping to the next owner and maybe a few bucks in PayPal fees.

By the way, my techno cuts just fine, but like ALL thick bladed knives, there is a slight binding when cutting through long pieces of thick cardboard etc..

Yeah. The spine thickness is the biggest thing holding me back from a Techno -- although it is rather charming with its stout, squat profile. Still, for a user, I think I'd have to seek out a regrind.

It will bind up on dense materials. I have had some issues cutting thick cardboard with it. Other than that, it's great. I still love it, it's just not the best slicer.

The heaviest material I've cut with my Techno was 5" fire hose and the knife performed fine. The hardest part was actually starting the cut, as the hose is pretty tough. After making the initial cut, the knife had no issues and the lock-up stayed very solid without becoming difficult to disengage. I was also very pleased with how the steel itself didn't chip or roll( was somewhat concerned with damaging the blade due to the amount of debris embedded within the outer jacket of the hose). I also found the handle surprised me at how well it locked into my palm, providing a very positive grip.

While I haven't cut truckloads of cardboard at a single sitting, I've found it performed better than my (now sold) Small Sebenza, as it remained sharper.

The knife just plain works for me.
