Anybody else feel overwhelmed by technology?
I'm 53 yo and had a sales career in the technology field. Lost that job about 5 years ago due to a change in distribution channels. Anyway, today I feel overwhelmed by all the changes in technology. Thank God I have a 16yo son that helps me keep up.
I feel that all this technology is just making our lives faster not better. Less face to face time.
Your thoughts.

I am a retired electrical engineer, with emphasis on the retired part. My son, who has to have every new communications gadget that comes down the pike, thinks that I am nuts, because:

I carry my ancient cell phone only when I want to, which is about 1/3 of the time. I feel no need or obligation to be constantly or instantly available to anyone and everyone. My favorite places to go don't have coverage anyway.
Leave a message and I may get back to you in a day or so. Or not.

My fairly old TV is perfectly adequate. I'll worry about big flat screen, hi-definition digital when it eventually dies.

As long as this ol PC keeps chugging, why in the world would I feel the need to buy a new one? Or a laptop?
Or wireless?

Life is so much more enjoyable when you are at peace with yourself and you can tell the world and it's demands and pressures to go take a leap.

Perfect timing.

I was looking at TV's this week. I have a nice 32" LCD but was thinking of upgrading. Holy Jeebus.

I was looking for LCD 1080p TV's and now I'm looking at a 1080p LED-LCD "Smart" HDTV with Google TV, WiFi, voice navigation and mobile phone link so I'll need a smart phone so I can use it as a remote and send media to the TV.

How am I supposed to figure all that out?

With all the technology going into TV's to make them thinner and thinner, they have to make the speakers smaller and smaller. Now I have to upgrade my analog 10 year old 5.1 receiver and speakers to digital with 7.1 because, you know, 5.1 just doesn't cut it.
