In case you missed it on Twitter, this is pretty cool. 105 or 121?

"Uncle Ted's first Buck Knife... Gutting unsuspecting herbivores since 1960!!"

Although, if he claims to have gutted unsuspecting herbivores with that knife in 1960.......I'd say his memory is a little off.
I don't think that particular knife existed in 1960.
But then.......Ted has had a wild and crazy life and memory is never perfect.

I was thinking the same thing. Did the 105 and 121 come out at the same time or was the 105 earlier?

The 121 came out in '64 and the 105 would have been earlier, I'm sure......don't know when, though.

Ted does not strike me as a detail guy at all........he's more of a creative soul.......he's probably got a lot of Buck knives and just grabbed an old one for the photo.

He may well have had a hunting knife made by Buck in 1960......but it ain't the 121 he's holding.

:D

I agree. The spacers look like dark Micarta, not the 60s hard fiber that appear lighter in color.

Internet photo for reference...

That's a photo from this forum originally......Telechronos or Flatlander........we can probably search it out for a list of what dates those 121s are.

Curious, are the handles the same size on the 105 and 121? I only own a 105.

I know the 121 handles have changed width a lot over the many years and many variations, so some would be visibly different from each other and the 105.
Even the sheaths have changed enough so some 121s won't fit in sheaths that fit other 121s.
