Tee Shirts vs Traditional Knives

I cleaned up this morning and put on a fresh Tee Shirt. When it was on, I noticed a hole in the left sleeve. I got that hole while cleaning a GEC knife blade in preparation of taking a picture of the knife. I used a stropping motion on my sleeve in order to make the blade clean and shiny and the tip of the blade caught the shirt sleeve and VIOLA a hole in a relatively new shirt.

I don't have this problem when handling older, hunting, camping, work, knives as I only oil the joints on those and give the blades a light swipe with a rag. Noooooo, it's only the fancy traditional knives that cause holes in Tee Shirts and a pair of pants every now and then when no rag is handy while doing the odd job with the knife such as taking a picture. Thinking more about this problem, I am aware of other newish Tee Shirts that I have with holes in either the sleeves or in the hem area.

When out and about on occasion, someone will remark about a hole in a Tee Shirt I'm wearing and my reply is; "yeah, I know" with kind of a slight smile thinking that the guy telling me about the hole probably doesn't have any traditional knives and has no understanding of knife holes in Tee Shirts.

Paper towels work great.
My biggest clothing/knife issue is the worn out pockets from modern folders with pocket clips.

Hi Modoc ED -

That looks like the kind of holes I get when I accidentally get battery acid splatters on my clothes.

I don't think I have ever done that with a knife, but now that you have shown me how to do it I'll probably experience it.

best regards

Gotta chuckle about that one.:) I've experienced the battery acid mishaps myself over time.

I've done this myself on a number of occaisions. That and the bald spot on the back of my wrist from testing a new edge.

That happens to me occasionally. But it is usually along the bottom of the shirt. I'm too lazy to find a sleeve to use.

I too have this going on. but I will take a worn pocket any day to have my EDC folder with me always. :)

I wipe off blade fingerprints with my cotton shirts sometimes, but so far I have not poked holes in my shirt. More than once though, I've nicked myself when posing a three blade knife for blade forum photos, doing something nothing short of a dumb ass attack.

I've gotten my share of nicks settin up a stockman.
