Hello,

I just purchased a cold steel carbon V ODA blank.
I have heard carbon V likes rust, so coating information needed.
I want this to be a fighting knife, so teflon(BTW does it require heating the steel) seems good, if anyone has done teflon coating help!

But, if you have done any kind of steel coating, please post information.

BTW
thanks in advance

I have no info on teflon coating, but ceramic powder coating is extremely durable and only requires heat less than 400F, so it won't harm the temper of a blade. Check your yellow pages; I found the guy who does mine by calling snowmobile/motorcycle/hot rod shops.

On the other hand, are you sure it will NEED coating? I have two Cold Steel knives in CarbonV and neither one is particularly susceptible to actual rust. They will patina, yes, but not really rust.

You have a point about me actually needing it, however I am trying to create a "tactical" fighting knife.

BTW
This is more for knife making experience and collecting purposes rather than knife fighting.
