STR,
Did you try that teflon tape for your HD? Ed Halligan told me awhile back that he corrected a problem like the one your having now by reversing the pivot screw. Hope you make out-you will.

I did but have not carried or used it enough yet to know if its working. It appears to be and its a good suggestion I think. If it works well it will end up in my tips and tricks thread.

I'll give it more time and see how it goes. Check back with me in a week.

Well the teflon tape slows it down but in the end I'd have to say thats all it does. I still see the screw moving on it over time though and therefore can't say its a for sure fix.

However, in my experimenting with other Emerson and Strider knives with the bigger pivot barrels I have found something that seems to do the trick and much better than blue loctite which works for about anything also. I have noted though that there have been times when I've used blue loctite on these bigger pivots with no effect and yet the red loctite is still too strong. What was needed was a happy in between. I found that in Sportsmans Goop.

This product seems to work better on the bigger pivots and pretty much sets in the same time frame as the blue loctite. From now on I'm using Goop on the bigger bull barrel pivots.

Glad that worked STR. Those little things can drive you nuts! Thanks for the tip. Are you keeping your HD-7 pure?

Speaking of Teflon what kind of washers do you like on folders STR? You must see a lot of variations on this theme.

I've taken quite well in the last year to teflon and nylatron personally. These seem smoother from the start to me than the PB and I have not had any come back to haunt me with rusting going on at the pivot like I saw with the PB washers. I can't say for absolute certainty that the PB was what caused it but I suspect that was the case since it stopped the problem by ridding the knife of them.
