what size tek lok should i get for the izula. it is a great neck knife. but i want carry options. should i go large or small?

i've got a large tek-lok on my izula and it works great.
but i would also like to know if the small works.

Small tek-loc for horizontal carry works fine. I like it better than the large.

Using paracord, the carry is more "horizontal". Using the small tek-lok will give you a slight handle-down cant.

Works for me.

i would just carry it vertical. in your opinion which size will better facilitate vertical carry.

Small tek-loc will work fine for vertical carry.

Both will work, but the small fits proportionately better.

Do any of you have a pic of a Izula with the tekloc large or small?I'd like to see what one looks like horizontal on a belt using either if ya could thanks.dn

That looks nice but I like to snap my knife out with my thumb, it's hard to tell if you could do that with this sheath. Who makes it?

Ah, good question. I've been wanting to see how they fit the Izula sheath as well since I've never seen one in person. Sadly, no one locally seems to carry them.

I make all my sheaths with thumb jimping to help with unsheathing. I've also made another style that has an area similar to the factory sheath for thumb pressing.
As far at the G shaped clip goes, knifekits.com doesn't carry them actually I've found no one who caries them so I make them myself. Very time intensive (probably 30 min to one hour for the clip itself) but they're worth it.

i looked after i posted and they dont carry them. so you make them? if so im interested in one.

Are you interested in the clip only? Let me go line one up with the factory sheath to see how they mate up.

well it depends how much it would be. on your other thread for a sheath and a clip was like $25 if i remember correctly. i would also carry it vertically on the belt btw.

Ok, here's the deal. The clips will work on the factory sheath. There are some issues though.

First, it will not be straight up and down. More like a 10 degree cant towards the finger/blade edge side if that makes sense. Horizontal carry would be pretty much correct, as well as the 45 degree cants.

The other main issue is that the Chicago screws that I use are to short for the factory sheath. That means that you would have to use your own hardware, or purchase something like this: http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=41_56&products_id=1136
Which is pretty expensive for what you get, not to mention shipping.
I've thought about selling the clips separate but if I include hardware and factor in my time, you're probably looking at $10 plus shipping. If you look at it like that, it makes the sheaths look like a steal! Honestly I'm hesitant to do it because it's not near as satisfying as making the sheaths themselves but you might be able to talk me into it. I will say that the clip can be used on waistbands, pockets, boots etc. where a tek-lok would be useless.

how about a sheath and clip then? in your other thread it was like $25. which is doable for me. if you were to make the sheath and the clip then it could be completely vertical. i know how you feel about your time. and this way it isn't as much of a waste for you. and from what ive seen from your work so far it is amazing! i could never do something like that.

Send me an e-mail and we'll see if we can't work out exactly what you want at a reasonable cost to you.
