I searched......

Use the large tek-lok is the standard answer. Has anyone used a large tek-lok on the esee-5 sheath yet? Pics would be great.

Just put one on mine last night. Haven't taken photos yet. It will only hook to one edge, but is plenty secure. You can set it to have the 5 ride hi or low. I love it. You'd need like an extra extra large Teckloc if you want it to cover the full width. Don't think they make that though...

So there is no way to make it more secure rather than just one side? What about drilling and riveting to secure it? Or is it that the tek-lok isn't wide enough to get to either side of the knife while it is in the sheath?

Yea I had the same concerns. It seems most Tek-loks that I have attempted to mount, small and large ones, only mount on one side (2 screws out of 4) to the sheath. I really dont like this but have not found a way around it. I'm looking for a better way to carry my ESEE on my belt and this is gonna have to do for now. I don't like lashing it onto my belt with 550 paracord either...

I want my knife secure and as flush to my side as possible (low profile). Like how a firearm is carried. I've been looking for a better solution but havent found it yet. I do have a 1 3/4 " double bull hide belt with a stiffner on order. This will completly solve any issues with carrying a firearm. Now I just need some way to mount the knife to the sheath to be worn on my new belt as well....

I've used a ton of kydex sheaths and Teklocs and always have only used them with two screws. I have never had a problem. Plus, you can put it towards the front or rear edge and get the angle you want for carry purposes. The only real way around it is to get a nice custom leather sheath built for it. Do a search for Armoralleather. He does great stuff. He actually lives just down the road from me so I know him and have had the chance to see is work up close. Great guy who does great work. Also, Spyderco makes a verson of the Tekloc. I can't remember what it's called but you can use it for IWB carry with kydex. Again, you have no worries just using two screws. You can always put a drip of blue loctite on each screw and they won't go anywhere.

Yep, the Tek Lok will only attach with 2 screws to many applications. This is also the main reason I don't like fold over sheaths that only have eyelets on one side. I think 2 screws is plenty secure but you would be very limited in what items you could use 4 screws on. The width of the item could be no wider than the Tek Lok and it would have to be flat on the back for the Tek Lok to mate up. The sheath on the 5 is neither of these.

I will be using this during my hunts. I have tried leather products in the past but the rain and seawater play havoc on them. Thick alders also hang up on everything strapped to your body and try to rip them off your body so I wouldn't trust just two screws. I think I will have to stick with the 550cord to keep it in place for now. Thanks for all the explanations.
