This might be a dumb question, but how does the Tek-Lok work ??? I see them on many kydex sheathes, but no pics of it attached to anything, belt, etc. I have never seen one in person, so I am just relying on pics. Any info would be helpful.

Here's a pic of one open.

Enables Carrying The Knife In A Vertical Or Horizontal Position On A Belt Or Webbing-Strap/Harness. It clips on so you don't have to thread it through your belt or strap.

I just made my first Kydex sheath for a Breeden PSK2, and it turned out pretty nice. I used the small Tek Lok for a horizontal carry. The nice thing about it is that you can attach/detach the sheath without removing the belt. It does cause the sheath to sit away from the belt a bit, but I can live with that. You can also mount it in different positions, if you place the holes in the proper area. It reminds me of a high-tech Fastex buckle (similar material. You can open the small Tek Lok by squeezing the outer arms. The hinge seems solid and light. I prefer leather, but this was a fun project.

You just snap it over your belt. I use them on sheaths when people want 'em and set holes to accept them on everything, but I hate the dang things personally and wouldn't consider wearing one. Then again, I can't stand Kydex loops either.

I've got few sheathes with a tek-lok. I really like the way they work. The way they are mounted on my sheathes, I can remove and rotate them 90 degrees and go from horizontal mount to vertical mount. Very handy and very secure.

I use one on my EDC, horizontal cross draw and even though it does stick out a bit I think the pros outweigh the cons by far.....

I liked it for a bit... but then I realized I could take some paracord and do the exact same thing in a slimmer and more secure package.

I don't like using them on thicker knives because what often happens is you can only attach one side of the 3x3 square to one side of the knife. I feel it's a bit flimsy.

Paracord or webbing are the only way I carry my personal sheaths.

do you have a technique that you prefer, one that is fairly quick to attach/detach? i too find tek loks bulky and would like a more simplified alternative..

care to share your method?
