teklok or drop leg?

Fellas, for a newbie who hasn't carried around a lot of blades over 4"...for knives like FBM or HR, do you recommend pants w/a drop leg or teklok? What are pros/cons or other solutions? Thanks!

i prefer leather with a belt loop. i find the teklok digs in to my side and the holster/sheath rides away from the body, and isnt as secure.

drop leg is also not my first choice, the wraparound strap can get uncomfortable after extended wear. it also tends to bind your pants.

if it must be nylon or kydex, i would go with a regular belt loop. it is easier to move around on your belt and i find more secure. tekloks come undone at the most unoportune times.

with leather you could have two loops stitched in, one high ride and one lower ride.

I got both for my Okuden-sheathed Satin Jack. Drop-leg for belt wear, Tek-Lock for other mounting options. You can switch them out via screws in about five minutes, and both come in handy. If I had to choose one, it would probably be the drop leg.

Regarding Morimotom's comment, I don't have a leg strap that goes around the thigh, like you would for a drop-leg pistol rig. The jack isn't so big that it would flop around a lot. You might need one on the FBM, if you're going to jog with it. Otherwise, you'd probably be fine just walking around without the thigh strap.

I've used a spec ops with up to HOSJTLE on my belt with no issues. I think on larger blades tek-lok is mainly useful for mounting options: pack, vest, etc. I would not mount a FBM that way, but that is just my personal preference.

Yeah, I think Teklok would be OK for a Hell Razor, but the FBM would ride better with a drop loop. It depends a little bit on the balance of the knife, and where you mount the teklok on the sheath. I prefer the knife to hang, which the loop obviously does. With the teklok, you have to mount it somewhat above the center of mass.
