Does anyone please have any information on the Tekna security card, double edged version.
The kind of thing I'm looking for is details of the construction and materials used.
How good is the lock ? What do people use it for ?
Mine has developed a scratch on the blade caused by the slide out-back action.
Is this common, or is mine just faulty ? It's seen just very light usage.
OK, so it's a just a ~$25 fun knife !

Thanks.

My wife bought me one of the single edged versions about 7 years ago for our anniversary. I think she spent about $19.00. I have carried it off and on since then. Mostly in a shirt/jacket pocket when in a social situation where I get to "show off" my knives.

The knife takes a razors edge. The lock has never failed in any of the string cuttings I have performed with it. As the blade is a little short, I don't view it as a stabbing weapon, but wouldn't be afraid to try if the fecal material hit the air circulating device.

Mine has developed the same scratches that you describe on yours.

I have the single edge model, that I purchased 6 years ago. Mine also has those marks on the blade, from the sliding opening.

I still have the box and the paper that came with it. It says that that the blade is made from stainless steel (Rockwell 55), and the body from though structural resin (whatever that is..). Would`t worry too much about the lock, as the knife design doesn`t lend itself to closing on your fingers......

I like credit card knives as gadgets. I also have the Spydercard and the SOG Access Card.

Is Tekna still in business?
I thought they went under ages ago.
If not, where can I find another card? Had a double edged years ago and wouldn't mind another, they're pretty handy.

I had a single edge version until I lost it in Korea 3 years ago. A card knife is a neat idea, but the lock system is not a very strong one. The lock/unlock button is the weakest point. If you handle the button very gently, the knife will last very long.
Now I have a double edge version. Both versions have about the same specs except the edge. IMHO, there are scarce chance to utilize the backside edge in daily chores and in self defense situation. It is card, gripping it is okay for only short time use. I don't think I can make a back cut with the knife even in an emergency case. It only increases possibility to have my finger cut occasionally.

If my memory is correct, Tekna card knife is discontinued. Spydercard is another good card knife available in today's market. It has no release button that adds an extra thickness albeit it's too thick for wallet carry...
