Tekna Wilderness Edge any good?

That's a trip back in time!...I somewhat remember when the Tekna stuff came out, they also made a boot/diver dagger and if my memory serves, their products were less than inspiring.

I bought one of the Tekna boot/diving knives in 1990-ish from Campmor(?). I liked the one-hand sheath and the serrated edge was very sharp - it sliced me wide open as I casually ran my thumb along the blade. That original knife was stolen, but years later I found a replacement in The Cutting Edge. The replacement wasn't nearly as sharp, and the sheath doesn't hold the knife securely.

I haven't handled the Wilderness Edge. Would I pay $140 for a brand new knife that's been out of production for nearly a decade? hmmm... I doubt it. That's at the high end of what I generally spend per-knife, and I don't find the knife irresistable.

Good Luck with your decision,
Bob

I'm wondering if that is an actual vintage Tekna knife or a reproduction. It looks like they have the whole Tekna line. I think I would e-mail them for particulars before i bought it.

Made out of 425 Stainless Steel

That makes it good and corrosion-resistant in the bottom of a tackle box but a $10 stainless Mora will last as well and cut better. The Tekna is no longer the high end knife it once thought it was.

I still have a Tecna Wilderness edge that someone bought me as a gift back in the 1980's. It's too big to fit in a tackle box.

Their other Tekna knife prices are in line with what I remember from years ago. Perhaps the Wilderness Edge originally cost that much too?

There's some Teknas over in Ebay.....I check there from time to time looking for the skeletonized folder.
