Does anyone have one of these teknolites from Traser UK and if so, how do you like it? We are thinking of expanding our product line and are looking at a couple of different lights right now.

Thanks a bunch for the input :)

Dan

Hi Dan,

I'm your man, our Scouting group received from Traser Uk the preproduction model of the Teknolite and we did some extensive testing with it.
Because of our testing a small "bug" was found and resolved completely in the production series and that made us feel verry good.

We like the Teknolite very much for several reasons:
1. It feels extremely well in your hands the formed "barrel" fits your hand like a glove.

2. It feels always the right temperature, I just want to say it is so much better then grabbing a maglite at 0 Degrees Celcius (32 Fahrenheit) and getting a cold hand.

3. It runs for an incredible time, we tested it with the 3 supplied Alkaline batteries (3 x AA) and it kept running for an incredible 300 hours still producing at the end enough light to read your map/book and see about 15 feet in front of you.
We did that test first running the light in blocks of 10 hours and at 25 hours it dropped a little compared to fresh batteries.
from 25 h to 40 h it dropped slowly but was still a bright.\From 40 h to 60 h it dropped to the level of a Photon 11 with brand new batteries (just the first minute of that Photon's brightness).
From 60 h to 300 h we did it in blocks of 24 h strait.
The end result at 300 h was as I said above..... just an incredible long duration that I got from it. Just rethink it we had it on for 12+ whole days.

4. We froze the Teknolite with 3 AA Lithium cells in a plastic softdrink bottle, turned ON, for about 24 hours and it worked at -20 degrees Celcius (you have to figure out yourself the Fahrenheit ;) )

5. It comes in really nice colors and with nice I mean, translucent/solid Yellow and Orange are just the colors I would want for materials at Scouting, you see them clearly and don't leave them lying somewhere (I don't the kids often do ;) ).
For the people not wanting these bright colors there are dark blue and dark grey/black I think.

6. The turn head works fine for me and inside it is a pellet with an platinum catalyst that will absorb Hydrogen gas that could form from the batteries when you use the flashlight, this platinum stuff absorbs it (neutralizes it) and although I don't think that it is certified (have to check yourself) for use in hazardous environments I think it could pass and I would not have a second thought using it in such an environment.
The flashlight is waterproof to 300 feet.

7. I left this for last, the 2 little glowtubes (green) in the rim of the flashlights head see to it that when you open your eyes in the middle of the night and want to grab the flashlight quickly you'll see it "glowing" in the dark (faint but enough to easily locate it)

Dan, when you contact Traser-UK, ask for Roger Green he's the Sales Manager and a very nice guy to deal with, DON'T forget to tell him you heard about the Teknolite testing from Bagheera (Pete) of Scouting group " de Bevers" (The Beavers).

At the moment we are testing their compass with built in flat glowtubes (green) and a priszim built in that allows you to clearly read the compass "rose" even in pitch darkness and do readings with a very high accuracy (.5 degrees).
The whole compass is surrounded by OD rubberlike shockabsorband cover and after one gets used to reading it it is a very nice and easy to use compass.
The testmodel we got was if I'm correct an "overrun" one that was intended for delivery to the Israelian Army.

That's what I can write about the Teknolite (and a little about their new "glowing" compass) now it's up to you.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Bagheera,

Excellent review! Thanks - that's just what I'm looking for :D

I had spoken to Traser, and they put me in touch with Litepro, Llc. I'll certainly pass along your testing info :)

If you don't mind, please post your compass results, those could certainly be another possibility ;)

Thanks again!

Dan
