hey guys ...... i guess that there are some of you guys who got into knives from fishing or vise versa like me !!!! ....

i like to sometimes on a spur of a moment go fishing or go fishing while i'm on my vacation by the sea/lake/river etc ans also while i'm out hiking.... so it got me thinking that i need a telescopic/foldable fishing rod.

i've already got one of those 'pos' kind that is rated for about 6lb and kinda flimsy (doesn't look if it can even take that light of a fish) but i wan a more robust one rated for about 12lb - 20lb line, about 2' to 2 1/2' in length when close and about 5 1/2' or less when oxteded fully ...... any ideas guys????

thanks in advance ...... happy fishing to those die-hard fans ......

You may have some problems finding one to fit that spec. The best answer is to have a rod made from about 5 or 6 2' sections, they are very expensive though. The UK probably has the best tackle around (Most popular hobby in the UK) and generally you will get 100% carbon blanks where lots of places are still using fiberglass or fiberglass/carbon combo's.

This is a 'wee' bit out of the criteria being about 3' 6 closed.

Here are some short section rods.

Temper,

For the most part, all telescopic rods are junk, period. Multi-piece rods are much better for travel.

So, what you want is a multi-piece rod, which you can buy or have made for you. Quality is proportional to price, of course. Nowadays with good quality graphites and graphite ferrules, there's very little action loss due to the ferrules.

Anyhow, if you need help finding what you need, let me know. My dad and I started a fly fishing store 27 years ago, and I worked in it for 20 years. He's still going with it and I'm still immersed in the business :)

Well any help you can give Kinzli is appreciated either gearing towards multi-piece or telescopic rods .... i'm sure that with your experience you could steer me towards something that meets my requirements ..... thanks in advance ...

I would second that telescopics are a bit naff for constant use. The only way to do the job properly is to get a 4 or 5 peice custom made. You never know, you might get it for less than you think, but I'm thinking of around (minimum) $300 area.
