Tell me about Marbles Knives

I've always liked fixed blade, traditional looking knives and have seen Marbles Knives mentioned a good bit and seem to like the looks of the knives. Would like as much info as possible on the history of the company, current company situation (ie- same company from start, somebody bought the name, etc), quality of knives and difference between "old Marbles knives" versus "new Marbles knives".
Thanks in advance,
Jed

The Marbles name is a mess right now. If I'm correct, here is the run down.

Carbon bladed knives - made in the US
"Damascus" bladed knives, including copies of US made ones - made in Pakistan
Axes - Made in China
Various fixed blades and accessories - made in China or Pakistan
Rubber handled versions of Fixed blades - made in China
Blue handled slipjoints - Made in the US
Other slipjoints - Made in China

This is what I've seen, but I could be wrong on a few. I would not buy a Marbles sight unseen right now. The "Damascus" Pakistan knives look very close to the US made ones, and are about the same price.

I've been trying to find out more about their Damascus blades, but no one here seems to know much and Marbles doesn't have a web site that I've been able to find.

If I need Damascus, I'm going to buy Bear & Son. Pakistan? No thank you.

The really old Marble's knives you see on eBay -- made before WWII - were made by a company rated by Bernard Levine as "V" - very high quality.

I have a couple made in the early years of this century before the present ownership. They are nice knives - all U.S. made.

Now, as noted, it's pretty confusing.

If you don't mind some patina, you can get those "V" knives at quite reasonable prices.
