for Griptillians. I like the looks of them.
I've held off buying the new Ritter Grip with M390 because I don't like the stock scales.
I'm ready to try this steel, it sounds good.

I know there are other suppliers of Grip scales, but one type has the same shape as stock ones, which I don't like. The other has an exaggerated filler, which I don't like.

How do you like your AWT scales?

I go with my own. I get my own shape and to suit my desires.

Other than that, I don't care for aluminum or alloys for knife scales. They do not wear well in my opinion.

They definitely do not survive well in my pockets.
Anodization goes away and DENTS AND DINGS show up like crazy.

Plus. I am not into SLICK Scales. I need some kind of traction and smooth metal has none.

And buy the Ritter.

Plenty of guys here who can make what you like.
And right now. I like DOAT.

They were too blocky for me. Plenty of other options out there. I too like DOAT and Igored.

I have a Large grip with AWT scales.

I don't find them to be slippery - they actually have a nice texture to them. But they are blocky like Nbrackett mentioned. The edges could be chamfered a bit more as the create slight hot spots.

They are MUCH better than the stock scales that's for sure but if I had the spend the $$ again, I would get some custom ones from DOAT, which I still might down the road after he's done making my Small Grip custom scales

I have a set of AWT scales coming but I do like my Cuscadi scales.

The custom scales Elie_KG posted are awesome. I've seen and used some excellent aftermarket Micarta scales for my mini Ritter. I generally do not like metal scales, which has been my main issue with some other high end knives. The AWT scales however have made this knife my favorite to carry and use. The anodizing gives it slight texture, and they are surprisingly comfortable in hand.

Going on my third set. Two mini grips and one full size grip. Like the texture, even the ones I call smooth do not feel slick. Fairly good selection of color.

Your scales really came out good.

I LIKE THEM

Ordered The AWT scales. I like the clean lines and the blocked off back end shape. I don't like the way the spine drops down at the back on the BM scales. Of course all is not perfect, I DO prefer G10 scales over any other material. This is a compromise, but an improvement I hope.

Be very, very careful when tightening the backspace screws. The threads in the scale (not the ones in the liners) are very delicate because aluminum is so soft. I accidentally stripped the threads in both channels tightening them as tight as you do the scale screws. It happens frequently enough that AWT is aware. Fortunately they are very short and there is still room in the channel, so I was able to order longer screws from Fastenal, chop them down a bit, and screw them together that way. Loctite helped.

AWTs felt great and looked great on the mini Ritter grip I had. My only complaint was that screwy business...

Thanks for the reminder!
I think someone on UTUBE spoke of this. They say thread the screws to test them before you put everything together.
