Tell me about the Tenacious in VG10

I happened across a Tenacious today on a dealers website that I was browsing and my first thought was wow, that looks like a pretty good knife at a good price point. Then I noticed that instead of having the normal 8Cr13MoV steel, this one comes in VG10. Granted, it's a black blade with a combo edge, not my first choice, but for the price, it looked like a heck of a deal.

So before I pull the trigger, I was hoping to get some thoughts or opinions on this knife.

For the record, it's model #SPYC122GBBKPS.

Try this number, SPYC122GBBKPS.

That was the number I originally had, but then after going back to the dealers website, I inadvertently grabbed the other number. I'm not a very good multitasker, i.e. I am at work right now. Fortunately, I am self-employed!
 
Ok, when I did a web search for model number, multiple listings popped up and they all are advertised as having VG10. Interestingly enough, I found the knife through one of my firearms distributors, and in doing a web search, it really only popped up at other gun shops as well. I'm wondering if it was a limited release for gun dealers?
 
As far as I know that's probably a typo and the person who wrote that up meant G10, not VG-10. As of last September, Sal was saying that there were no premium steel knives yet in the works from China.

Anyone heard if this has changed in the last 4 months? Seems an awfully short time to go from no production to shipping.

It's possible that all those gun dealers get their stock from the same distributor and it was a distributor typo. Doubt many of those stores could tell you what the difference in steels was or why it is important.

A vg10 would be news indeed. Perfect timing with shotshow lol.

I got my 8cr Tenacious a 30 degree incl. with a 40 microbevel. Works very well for me. Its not gonna hold an edge as long so I hone n strop it more often, no biggie. Great knife still overall.
 
Reality aside, a VG10 sprint version would be cool as hell. I would have to have one.

I just a Tenacious and couldn't be happier with it. I bought it as my work knife, a beater but damn I've been loving it. For a $34 folder it kicks major @$$.
 
VG-10 and some spiffy new handle scales would be pretty awesome. It would bring the knife to a whole new level.
