Tell me about your Fort Turner Hawk

I would like to hear a comparison between similar FT and CS hawks. FT seems to forge them almost as thin as CS does. Maybe it's just the pictures.

I have a "pup" hawk I have strapped to my back quiver.

I also have an Iroquois hawk I had Dana customize with a hammer poll.

Upon seeing the quality of these 2 hawks (first two I ever ordered), I went ahead and purchased one of his Roger's Ranger hawks as well as his throwing knife.

Dana is an excellent craftsman and a gentleman to deal with. His hawks and sheaths are both outstanding in quality and value. You get a top notch product at a very reasonable price. All eye/handle fit was right on. The only modification I had to make was I rubber cemented the leather wrapped grip in place on the RR hawk.

blutck.

I also have an Iroquois hammer pole.. excellent piece for the money.. my only gripe is the small diameter handle.. I'll have to wrap it soon...the blade is forged thin and chops well, also sharpens up well..

Couple of things that make me want this hawk over a Cold Steel

1. Made in US
2. Small business owner
3. Steel is better. 1020 and 1095 - Cold steel is currently 1055
4. Cost is not outrageous considering materials like some other manufacturers

My guess is I will grab a trapper and perhaps a scout as well. Sheaths look good too.

Fort Turner is well worth the price !!!

Man, those are some nice 'hawks! One of these is definitely in my future.

Ordered mine last night, a Camp Hawk with a hammer poll. Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it and head to the field.

I ordered a Fort Turner Iroquois Tomahawk on april 3rd. Got a shipping confirmation email on april 9th.

I'm looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but praise for Fort Turner's work.

My opinion is that the FT hawks at twice the price are 10 times the value in terms of durability. The two trail hawks I've owned did not hold up to treatment the FT hawks handle routinely and without damage.

Well the goal at this point is to pick up a pole hawk some time this month. I am positive I will be ordering more than one, but there are other things right now that take precedence. I can justify the pole hawk to the fiance and myself as a camp axe. When money is more plentiful, probably pick up a Norse or Roger's Ranger.

Those are some "Beautiful TomaHawk's !" Thank's for sharing the picture's Blutck, That Iroquois Hawk & Leather Sheath Is a Real Beauty ! The Roger's Ranger & Throwing Knife and Leather work look second to none, Look's like Fort Turner does some Very Nice Work ! I went through the Fort Turner Web-Site and It's a Goodun ! Nice TomaHawk's & Sheath's, I know my Collection Is going to be Growing !

My first Fort Turner TomaHawk "Has been Ordered", I'm getting the Hardened Pole TomaHawk, Trapper TomaHawk & Sheath 3.5" Blade Edge, 1 3/4 LB., 16" Handle, When I seen the picture's posted above I had to get my Order In ! American Made OH YA !

Give us your feedback as well Snake Dr. I know you won't be disappointed.

Sure will, I just talked to Dana, Via E-Mail his wife Is also gonna be makeing me a Sheath for my Roger's Ranger, I'll keep you all up to date, Take Care !

Well I got it, FT Iroquois Tomahawk, and I have mixed opinions about it.

The forging of the head and the fit to the handle is outstanding! It's expertly made and beautiful. The balance is outstanding. It came sharp.

BUT... I'm disappointed by how tiny it is. On the website the head is proportionately larger, which is why I chose it over the others.
The website also says the cutting edge is 3.5". The one I received was only 3" and the head is very small. It's about 2/3 the size of my Cold Steel Rifleman's Tomahawk.

It's a nice 'hawk, but too small for me to consider using it for anything but practice throwing. I'm 6'5" and it feels like a toy to me. I almost consider it a bag axe.

If the FT pup 'hawk is any smaller than this, you might as well let your kids use it for their GI Joes.

So no... overall, I'm not pleased with it.

I know Dana Turner and he really wants to make sure that his customers are taken care of and completely satisfied. I'm sure if you call him and let him know, he will take good care of you...maybe even do a custom-sized one for you. He's a stand-up guy.
