How hard is it to de-assist?De-assisted 586 is my the favorite & most used knife. I like it even better than 940/943 or Ritter. I thought it is one of the best design & value (sans weight) in BM lineup. Can't believe that it is getting DC'd.
I love it! How does the slider thing on the back work?Hey JD!! Here's mine with a bad ass set of S Ketchen scales next to my 581.
The 586 is my favorite smaller BM! It fits my hand perfectly! I really like the assist. Excellent action and this bad boy locks up TIGHT!!
I'm sure you are going to love it! Didn't know they discoed this one. Shame because it is a great knife with an amazing blade shape and steel!

In both open and closed positions? Does it cause a hot-spot?The 'slider thing' is a safety and 'clicks' into place locking the Axis lock.
Works very well, but can't remember if I ever used it.

Thank you, now I'm really getting impatient!Yup, both open and closed and no hot spot at all. It only sticks out a tiny bit and it has spring tension on it so if you hold the knife and do put pressure on it, it will just depress slightly.
Such a cool knife!!
