Hey everyone, I just ordered my first Benchmade, a blue 556. I'm pretty hyped so tell me about yours!

The Mini's are one of the best knives made IMHO, and can be very addictive :D
I like them so well I have 12, and the family keeps growing... If you don't like it a lot at first, carry it and use it for awhile, and it will grow on you.

I have a number of knives in that size range: Spyderco Native and Chaparral, various Buck Vantages, etc. My normal routine was to rotate these, choosing which to carry clipped according to my whims, along with a traditional slipjoint in the pocket. A few years ago, I got a Mini-Grip 555 Sheepfoot in regular old 154CM, with the regular old plastic scales. Gradually, I pretty much have stopped carrying any of the others. I have only one other mini-grip that I bought used in D2 steel that I will carry if I think I have hard or messy work to do.

This has freed me to spend my knife money on more traditionals. :)

I kinda like them. I'm down to 32 since I've been trying to diversify. Pardon the bad cell pic.

Yeah, kinda.;)

Got a few that are beat to death. Like em, not as much as Adamas or Presidios though. Will last you a lifetime.

I think if I would have kept all of mine, we would be close Nathan... I did just get done unboxing a new 440C 556 that came today though :D

They kick butt. They can take most everything you throw at them. Great little knives. This one is one of my favorite carries. I've had it for about 2 years now.

Tough little knives, but It's certainly not my favorite.

If I had a do over, I'd get the full size with the hole in it. Forgive me, I can't remember the model # off the top. The 556 is certainly no slouch, but IMO, the handle leaves a lot to be desired. As you can see, however, that doesn't prevent me from using it.

I bought my father a mini grip two years ago (I think) and he uses it pretty hard. Nothing abusive, really but he doesn't carry a knife to take photos with like many of us do. If it comes out its to cut something and it comes out often. The edge retention has been great and he can resharpen it fairly easily.

I have 2 mini's a 556 in 20cv and a Ritter 558 in s30v these knives are great little workhorses. Perfect for my on the job needs. I rarely carry any other oho's anymore every once in a while I'll carry something else for more task specific situations like something in h1 for water for example. I've had quite a few knifes pass through my hands over the years and for ME the mini grip is as close to perfection as I can get for a work carry.

Just got this a few weeks ago. Love it and love the DOAT scales on it! Totally transforms the knife.

I got the Mini Grip today. I really like it so far, needs a little breaking in, and I might have to get some AWT scales for it, but so far so good. Here it is with a ZT900 I also got today.

I resisted the Benchmade bandwagon for the longest time. Then finally got a good deal on a NIB 555 Mini with the Mel Pardue sheepsfoot blade. OK, so now I get it. Great package, love the axis lock. Mine needed a sharpening out of the box but now it cuts like crazy and it's become my EDC.

Cool. I've had all the colors except blue. The more I see it, the more I like it... If the knife seems a little stiff, you can try adjusting the pivot.
It usually only takes a very slight movement for the knife to be really smooth.
