I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these.I really like the design and the size is what I really like in a bushcraft/field knife.
Can you share your experiences with this knife?

The only drawback in my opinion, and the only reason I do not carry it more while outdoors is the weight. I like to travel light, however the weight of the Mntr II lends itself well to chopping when you do not have anything larger, or no light axe/hatchet. Just put the lanyard around your wrist, choke waaay backwards on the handle, and go to town.

Great blade length (5.5" is my personal ideal outdoor fixed blade length, with the small Sebenza as my fine-work blade--tried the Mtnr I as well, and did not like the blade length and its impact on the knife's balance), and you can't beat a built-in waterproof match and compass case (or whatever else you're inclined to put in there).

Other pluses are that, in my experience, CRK's A2 tool steel is fairly easy to sharpen (though I did reprofile the edge on mine to be thinner), and when the black coating wears off the blade, I've found that cutting fruit will patina the silver underneath to compensate.

Great sheath too, probably one of the best pouch-style sheaths out there, and by a great sheathmaker.

You really can't go wrong with the Mtnr II. The only CRK that I think (haven't tested the theory) might be a better bushcraft knife would be the Ubejane, though the blade shape may not enamor all. I would think the extra blade weight would make the Ubejane a better chopper, though the thinner blade width of the Mtnr II might be better at all-around woodcraft.

Just my .02. :)

Professor.
