Hi Guys,
Newest of new here.

Bought a Cabelas, (Benchmade) Mini Griptilian D2 steel bladed assisted opener. I bought it 'cause I have Cold Steel m,aster Hunter that sharpens sharper and stay sharper than any other knife I've owned. Not to say there isn't better, but its good for me.

Anyway, I just don't get that same edge on the Cabelas. I use a 30 degree edge on a Spyderco Sharpmaker with course and medium ceramics. Is there a sharpening for dummies section to this forum. I feel I need to read it!

Any suggestions here.

Thanks in advance

This is the section for sharpening stuff: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=794
I'm sure a mod can move it over there for you.

I believe the Griptillians are sharpened at 40degrees inclusive, so you are not hitting the actual edge yet, switch to the 40 degree slots on the sharpmaker and try again, D2 does not need special equipment, you can sharpen it like you would any knife.

Bingo - it takes me almost no time to touch up the D2 Grip with the white stones. It usually goes from sharp to hair whittling sharp in about 20-30 strokes per side.
