I've been very satisfied with it. I have had very good edge holding and feel it is surely better than 440A and probably superior to AUS6 as well.
Sharpening is easy. It takes a great biting edge and is unaffected by salts, oils, acidic fruits and veges and anything else I've dished out to it. Pretty much as maintainance free as my David Boye dendritic folder for about a 1/3rd the cost.
From what I've gathered this steel is akin to a fine wine or scotch. It just gets better with age. Once it is several years old and work hardened even more from use and sharpening it will hold an edge better than it does new.
Something about that is so cool IMO. I mean if it starts out as akin to just a tad better than AUS6 after a few years it moves up to the level of AUS8 then AUS10 then up with BG42 and later into the league of the super steels.
If the above is really true, and I have no reason to believe it isn't, then buy one and start using it now and in ten years it should be a better knife than when you bought it for overall edge holding and performance.
I've upgraded my Salt1 to suit me personally with a Calypso Jr. type handle and feel now and an all titanium body and screws and Lignum Vitae construction with an adjustable titanium pivot pin so I can swap out a SE or PE depending on my whim.
I use it every chance I get to work harden it that much faster.
