Tell me more about the AG Russell Chuck Buck collaboration that I saw in the new AG Russell catalog. It's the new signature knife,

I really like the stag model, alas, the price is a little bit high for ol' Dan. Any other versions being made of this knife? What can you tell me about this knife? Who has one? I was surprised to see it has 154CM steel.

According to the special projects list of 2009 (and these lists are not always accurate) there were to be three knives in a limited edition of 250 each. One was black pearl, one Sambar Stag and one Mastodon ivory. Apparently there was a problem with the Mastodon ivory and those were sold as seconds.

I have a Mastodon ivory one. There is a slight crack at one rivet pin. The knife, however is very nice with a slim profile that fits in the pocket (my watch pocket of my jeans). It is not the same knife as the standard catalog China Buck canoe. The blades are very slim, thinner than my 1972 Camillus Buck 301 blades and cut differently than the standard canoe blades. The combination of blades works very well for a pocket user. The steels are tops. Also, Buck usually has a hollow grind edge 2X on most knives they make these days. These are flat ground blades. I am very pleased with my knife and would buy a stag one if I felt I could afford it. I am considering getting a back-up Mastodon just in case I lose the one I have, because I carry it every day. They come up on the bay frequently.

In short, it is one sweet little knife.
