I myself start of with some soft music and no inturuptions. Id :barf: if i droped a screw and it rolled under the fridge. next i lay out a soft cloth and the alan key...i dis assemble the sebbie and give it a nice bath in warm water and use q tips and a soft wash cloth. next i dry it using a freshly washed towel. Then i relube all the critical parts... the phone usually rings at this point but i never answer it. Now i start the reassemble , with the attention of a heart doctor doing a bypass. nearing the end i gently torque down the bolts , and give it a test run . at the very end i give it a final rinse with poland spring water. I do this because i have a water softener in my home that uses a small amount of salt to cleans the ceramic balls in the ..never mind about the water softener lession. ; so after the spring water bath i give a nice dry and off to the pocket once more for a life of leasure. Am i going to far.. or does everyone clean their sebbie this way. :D

I turn on the TV, lay down a towel to put all the parts on, use some denatured alcohol to clean off the old grease, relube, reassemble, cycle it a few times to work in the grease, and then it's good as new again.

I took one apart once and after I trashed both washers, I carefully reassembled the parts and sent it in for repair along with a note apologizing that I justwasnt Mr Goodwrench and I would never do this again.

I scarred all my screws on my umfaan and also knacked up sharpening it.Bent one screw on my sebbie. After Bridget (God bless her!) arranged for them to be fixed and returned to me I have vowed never to take them apart myself ever again.

I lay out my lube and tool in front of the computer moniter-with Ted's tutorial up(thanks Ted!),and follow the instructions to the letter.I always take them apart soon after getting them=4 now=to make them my own-sort of a bonding time. I love the fact that CRK encourages us to do this,it is one of my favorite features of the knife.I am glad that I have not messed up any of my Sebenzas by performing maintainace on them.I have lved to take my belongings apart to examine/maintain them sice I was a kid, finally a company that encourages it.

I am like you Dr. Sharp, music playing in the background. Send the wife off to the mall, gotta have privacy for this....I start my session by sharpening the blade before I disassemble it, since I use an edgepro the slurry from the stones needs to be cleaned off anyway when I am done. I finish the sharpening by stropping on some soft tanned leather. Then its time to take it apart. I don't soak the handles, since I am am worried about water getting behind the wood scales (I have a small '02 limited snakewood) I take a soft washcloath soaked with warm water and just wipe them down, and then quickly dry them. The rest of the parts get soaked in soapy water, cleaned and dried. The blade gets wiped down with a tuff cloth, especially want to use that cloth in the pivot area, don't want any corrosion in there where it gets rarely cleaned. Then I wipe the blade down with a soft cloth and further treat it to a coat of ren wax. At this point I take the phone off the hook, I don't want any distractions during reassembly since this is where I have heard people go awry and bend washers and such......A couple dabs of CRK's grease in the right spots and back together it goes, then I go over the wood with ren wax, polish it, and clean the edges of the wood where it meets the Ti with a soft brush to get rid of the wax edge and I am good to go!! Make myself a martini, and kick back in the recliner to admire my handywork.
