Tell us about your secret HI projects!

Right now my secret H.I. project is finding enough extra money to be able to have an H.I secret project. (though I do have a couple of ideas)

I have in the works two projects. One is a double bitted hatchet and the other is an Arkansas toothpick. The toothpick will have some extras with it, like a small dirk sort of knife and an icepick, maybe a fork too. I have been slowly working on the models for a while now and I am in no hurry. I have to save up to pay for the prototypes and Uncle Bill has been swamped with special projects lately. Suggestions would be welcome and considered.

I have a 12" stag handled extra heavy Ghopte coming in at some time in the future, besides an M43 if they ever become reality.
Uncle Bill just told me he would be shipping the Chainpure I ordered when I missed the first one, so I have one less specila project going now ( I better fix it soon!).

I don't have any "secret" projects going, but the Scagel Style Southwestern Bowie project is alive and well although very slow as everyone's no doubt noticed.

And the H.I.Tomahawk is on the back burner unti the Bowie model is finished. And I would like to see the Nepali hatchets come in first to see if we even need the 'Hawk.

And it's never really been a secret, but someday in the future I would love to do a real Tin Chiara project khukuri on the order of and maybe just a tiny bit bigger than the
YCS.

Now how about you telling us what you got up your sleeve(s)?

Nothing secret, but I'm smokin over a carved-handled, carved-sheathed, silver mounted UBE - no karda or chakma, just spend the entire amount on the blade and the wood, and let the carver have free rein with a vine & leaf pattern.

:
Bro you might wanna specify the maximum dia on the Garud carved handle if possible.
Some of them can get pretty large.

But I forgot you already have one.

Is the handle about the right size or does it matter?

Still in the "thinkin' 'bout it" stage with my tomahawk design. Have yet to get the wood together and am pitching around how to model the eye, how to model it around a readily-available handle (thinking getting them from Cold Steel, sanding the swell down to a 1-degree taper, and cutting to length), etc. It'll come eventually, I think.

Mine will be a special order falcata, with emphasis on the scabbard. I'm contemplating the possibility of engraving on the part of the blade near the tip (right after the fullers), but nothing concrete. Hopefully I'll have decided what all I want by the time the prototypes arrive.

Yvsa:

I just want the standard UBE handle, but with a carved pattern similar to that on the sheath. I don't think I could rest well with a Garud and a Snow Leopard facing off on the wall above me when I'm trying to catch my 20 winks

Ivan, I love my extra heavy 12" Ghopte! Ghopte's round shape looks also graceful and nice with a 12 incher also, as nice or nicer like standard size Ghopte.
Pic of my Ghopte is here:

I'm sure stag handle will make it more graceful. Mine has habaki style bolster, but standard style bolster seems better. Proportionally short handle is rather inconvenient unless you can grip the bolster with your index finger. A round cross sectioned bolster will fit for grip better IMHO.

3.

1 will be a long, thin (compared to AK Bowie) bowie. 2 will be a short bastard sword. 3 will be a spearhead. Model for 3 will be submitted first, of course. :)

I have not got a special of my own, because you guys devise such great ones that I will be buisy getting those first.:D Uncle Bill, have any of the YCS plain Jane models come in with the steel fittings AND the proper tools? I have been hoping for one of those as my next HI buy. I love my YCS by Sanu, but sometimes feel guilty using such a beauty too hard. I would rather have a plain model to use hard and this one to love for its beauty. Thanks for all your good ideas all. I truly am dreaming of the day that the Falcatas come in. That is the only other blade design that I am GaGa over. The model I saw here looks to be the best I have been able to come across, design wise. Take Care All!
