Tell us the most extreme thing you ever did with a Sebenza (and it survived)

Well, the most extreme thing I ever did to a Sebenza is take it out of the box and put it on display... ;)

Kind regards,

Jos

I watched a friend of mine use his Sebenza (this was way back in 1998ish) as a chisel/prytool to break up this ceramic tile in his beer store! It marked up the blade and scratched it up but it survived. It was from then on that I had to get one.

I was "parked" with a young lady on a dirt road next to a river. It was after a long drinking binge. We got up close and personal and somehow or other, my belt pouch came off of my belt. Ahem*

So afterward I backed my vehicle up *right over my Seb* and drove to her place for more after hours excitement. The next morning (really a few hours later) I awoke to go to work and realized my lizard printed red leather pouch was MIA.

I drove back to the spot and there it was. Only a slight tear in the leather pouch. Did I mention that I drive a Dodge ram 1500 4x4 quad cab? Oh, I didnt?

I think that proves toughness.

Last year we had "lots" of snow here in Seattle (we had around 16-20 inches or so?) and the power went out for a few days. I went to my friends house and their kid was so cold (was wearing layers and layers of clothing mind you) that his hands were blue. They had no axe and did not know how to start a fire.

Out came my Small Reg seb and I battoned through 3-4 logs. After the whole oredeal, the seb was fine. The edge was no longer shaving sharp, but that was fixed easliy with a strop.

I told the story to Anne at Bladewest and she loved it. I'm glad to know that when it comes down to it, I can rely upon my Sebenza to do what needs to be done.

Havent done any crazy stuff with my seb or any knife for that matter. Havent had the case arise where I would need to abuse my knife.

Cut up a bunch of thick coax and cat5 to see what would happen. It did great with no damage to the bevel. It didn't even chip.

I field dressed a deer with my Large Enigma 21. Scraping bones, dunked in blood and fat, pushed through the sternum.

The best part was it cleaned up in about 1 minute with some water and a paper towel.
Oh... and the grip was sure even when covered in blood and fat.

my wife had a ketchup packet explode in her knife pocket and she did not realize it (state fair) 2 days later when she went looking in her pants pockets for her knife she found it smothered and covered... it ate the blade pretty bad.. and it was a NICA Tanto..... a new blade was in order..... 4 weeks later she came back home from the shop looking new.... and I had my wife's name engraved in old English on the clip side.

Bought it to use it....

- Lost it in a puddle of really bad water for about two months. Still good after a refurb.
- Cleaned/quartered/caped elk & deer, and skinned several critters in the same season.
- Cutting wire while fencing some land.
- Skinned out an Idaho wolf (yep, a wolf).
- Started a fire with flint/magnesium using the blade.
- Pryed out the ivories on several bull elk.
- Chopped some tinder for a fire and made several fuzz sticks at a Boy Scout outing.
- Peeled an apple once in a while.

It is meant to be a working knife and it does just that.
