Temperance

If you are looking for a knife made for hunting, camping, cooking and even self defence: here it is the Temperance. Made as a weapon and for the MBC program, the blade with the famous VG-10: strong reliable and long length biting steel. The flat grind blade similar to the Calypso Model gives a strong power of penetration.
The handle is a treasure of confort made all of curves . It is made of FRN and is flattened toward the blade and offers a really incredible confortable grip in normal or ice pick’s.
The handle is also very confortable when you are using gloves.

The sheath got enough retention to carry the knife upside down.
I carry mine IWB or with an holster.

I used mine on rubber and tomatoes and It has been used to cut wood (see picture enclosed) with absolutly no damage to the blade or the handle.

What I really like is the confidence you got when you are using the temperance even with wet and slippery hands.
It’s a must when you are using the knife really hard. (Full ballistic blows on Pig Heads)
Also I have been testing the Temperance on kevlar, and the result are outstanding because of the force of the blow such handle permits to you.
The shape of the plade also offers outstanding penetration impacts.

Bravo Sal for this REAL tool !!!

Always nice to see you around Nemo. The Temperance is a great looking nice, it is good to see Spyderco spreading more into fixed blades.

If you get a chance can you ask Fred for his general impressions of the cutting ability of this compared to his well worn large Sebenza. It would be nice to hear his perspective on the high hollow grind vs high flat grind.

Hi Cliff. I'll send you a plain edge Temperance to play with. We found the wide flat blade cuts exceptionally well. I'd be curious to hear your opinion.

Since you live in the "anti shipping-receiving zone", it might take a little while to get there. We'll send it next wek.

Sal, if you are in a "giving mood", I could sure use a Spyderco Fred Perrin (FB04), as I've been trying to trade for one for "awhile" now without much luck...(I'm too darn poor to buy one.:(.).

I'll even promise to write MY opinion of this knife.:).

Just in-case:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAh... I completely agree with you! some knifes look great untill you take it in your hands...other look not so good but when you take it in your hands you just can say WOAW...this model is one of these!
Buuuuuuuut...I want to say that for the price you can order one original custom made by the master himself! so why get a copy when you can direct buy the original?

Original custom Temperance? I thought the Temperance was designed by Sal Glesser himself.

Yes it is! the only knife designed by Fred for Spyderco is the "PERRIN" FB04. The temperance is designed by sal himself.
Sal "took" a litle bit of Fred PERRIN to design the S.P.O.T.
When I said the "original" I meaned the FB04 PERRIN.
Fred call it "the fighter" in his original configuration.
The exemplar from spyderco is now available in black! yum yum!
