Temperance Trailing Point Problem

I just got a temperance trailing point blade and although I reallly like it I am sending it back to spyderco for repair. The blade tip sits too high, almost at the edge of the handle edge when closed. It is very easy to catch the tip on your finger or clothing simply by running it along the edge of the end of the knife when closed. It looks like this is an accident waiting to happen and will even get worse as the blade is sharpened and exposes more of the tip outside of the handle. Anyone else notice this problem. I am disappointed given the cost of this knife and the previous good reviews. This kife is going back to spyderco today.

I just ordered one of these the other day, and I sure hope that this is just one bad apple. Oh I can't wait for the brown truck to pull up!!!

Wolfy, I have one and it has given me no problems. The finish on the Temperenace is really very close to that of some customs.

dns, I hope Spyderco gets the bugs worked out of your knife for you.
Anthony, Thanks for the confidence booster. :)
Darn that UPS, why can't they be just a little bit faster?:(

dns, on my Lil'Temperance, the point is close to edge of the scales; however, a person would really have to press hard to touch the flesh of your finger on the point. I thought this may have been a problem, but it has not proved to be one. Mr. Cheeseboro, thanks for the info on close tolerances. Hey wolfy, I order everything 2nd day air. Where I order from, it is only $4.00 more and well worth it.

I hope the one I got is not typical of the series but on mine you could feel the blade tip by lightly rubbing your finger on the end of the knife. The top edge near the tip also extended past the curved finger grooves when closed. I assume that the tip and top edge is supposed to be below the handle and that is why I sent it back for repair. It would also seem to me that this problem would get worse with use as the blade tip would expose more of itself with use and resharpening. As it is this is one knife that I would not feel comfortable carrying tip up in my pocket. Hopefully I will get the knife back soon. I will post if spyderco fixes it right.
I could have returned the knife to the dealer I got it from but thought it would be easier and faster just to send it to spyderco.

Hi Dns. Sorry about the disappointment. There is a lot of hand work (custom) on this model. It sounds like a problem on yours, screw up on our part. We'll make it right quickly.

Yeah, it must be just on yours because mine is perfect. I like the fact that after you hold one and really look at it, you can tell it's a high end folder. It's worth every penny. I still like my Ocelot the best though, but I really think this is Spyderco's most solid knives yet.
