I assume the steel Todd is using is either stainless spirograph, or vines and roses. The mix on this is 440c and 302. Heat treat is 1850 for 30 min quench in oil. Blade temper is 350f for 1 hour two times and subzero quench in liquid notrogen for 1-4hours. For springs I temper at 1000f for 1 hour 2 times. This works well for me. if you are looking for a specific RC range take some 440c blade steel and heat treat as above cut into small pieces and temper each piece at a differant temp starting at say 700,800,900,1000'1100. Rockwell each peice and this should give you a target temp for your specific RC rating. Todd can contact me or Devin at 775-728-4363 during the week to discuss this furthur. Also we will be at the LVCKS and Todd can talk with us there as I know he usually has a table.
