So today was my first day using parks 50. Came home threw them in the oven before I washed them off. They were only in there maybe 10mins took them out washed them off with dawn. Obviously the wife ain’t happy. Will the excess smell burn off?

For an electric oven.
Clean every leftover of the product left inside the oven.
Don't put anything on the burner elements if they are external.
WIPE ALL OVEN CLEANING PRODUCT FOAM before going to next step!
Use the self cleaning function for about 3 hs. If you don't have one, put it at max heat for about 3 hs.
Then open the door and let it air out, and remove the dusty residues that fell at the bottom.

Bingo --> your oven is cleaner than ever, your blades are tempered and your wife is happy!

It’s a glass top. I guess I’ll be doing some scrubbing.

In other words, run the self-cleaning cycle with your blades inside?

The residue is not poisonous. It is just vapors and ash from the burned off oils (mostly mineral oil). That said, you should always wipe out the oven well with a wet cloth after the o=ven has cooled down from a cleaning cycle.

If you do an oven cleaning cycle do not do it with blades in the oven.

To avoid this problem:
Wash your blades very well with dawn or another good cleaner before tempering. If you wish, set some rosemary, ginger, or other fragrant herb in a small metal dish in the oven when doing the blades. This will make the whole house smell like baking/cooking.

I figured out how to prevent this it's so simple. Wrap the blade in aluminum foil. Seriously you can go straight from oil to temper without washing and if you wrap it good no smell leaks out.

What Stacy says here - the self cleaning oven temperature is really high, perhaps over 500F. If you're using the house oven (or toaster oven) be sure to check the actual temperature with a thermometer. Some of those ovens will have almost 50F temp swing when thermostat switches on 'n off. Some ovens are pretty good, but not all.

You can make tempering oven for 100-150 $ .Take my oven just as an idea. I used what I have around me, for less work.

wipe the blades off with acetone/break cleaner before tempering.. removing oil residue
buy a toaster oven to temper with .. Happy Wife / Happy Life!!!

No...

He is saying to clean out the wife's oven, because you made it messy.
If you left your blades in the oven and ran max temp for 3 hours, or a self clean, you will likely have some soft blades.
