I have been using Barium Cloride as liquid heat for heat treating high carbon steel. I have heard there is a better salt out there for this. Im also looking for the tempering (low temp salts) and cant find it. Please explain the term "Martempering" Any and all help is appreciated

Thanks for the links. I think Im going to rebuild my system and add the Merquenching salt tank. It has some definite advantages over oil quenching and oven tempering. It does cost money though. The hot salt tank needs a solenoid valve on the propane line connected to a digital controller to maintain the correct temp while the blade soaks. The low temp tank needs a digital electric themostat. Ebay, Here I come.
