I've been reading alot about tempering 2, or 3 times to get the best out of a blade. I've been thinking more seems to be better. So, if I want my blade to be the best and stay the best why not send it back to the maker once a year to get re-tempered? This way I as a customer can have my knife get better and better every year.

Tempering is the final conversion and stabilization of unconverted parts of the martensite mix.It is done immediately after quench. It is done several times to insure that the steel mix is stable, and fully converted.3-4 times is all that will improve the steel.
A year later and all the tempering in the world won't improve the blade appreciably.
