Anybody out there with a template or pattern for the finger groves on a Buck 112. I am rescaling one with some Walnut from an old shotgun stock that is at least 100 years old. Belonged to my Great Grandfather and I keep the old wood when I restored the shotgun. I love this knife and thought the walnut would look good on it. I also like the feel of finger groves. If someone has a 112 with finger groves, if you could trace it for me and send me an email, that would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Bladeforums tdl121.

I don't have what you are looking for, just some advice-

I don't know if you have ever handled a 112 with finger grooves, but finger grooves can be a very personal thing. With everyone's hands being different, not everyone likes the same placement of factory made finger grooves on a knife handle.

My suggestion would be to start out using some other material to generate your own placement of grooves, ones that suits your hands. Using a less valuable wood you could experiment and produce a variety of groove patterns, then determine which one you like best, and then use those as a template for the Walnut.

Just a suggestion.

Of course if you are already familiar with the feel of the factory 112 finger grooves and like them, then this advice becomes meaningless :) .

You are absolutely right. I sorta playing with that as well. Really want to just use the factory pattern as a good starting point. Thanks
