Temporary Handle Suggestions ?

Hello all,

So im working on my machete now and I broke off the old plastic handles off and currently in the process of making new ones.But I need it for work tomorrow and I need temporary handle , I don't have enough para-cord so my best idea so far is using old shoe laces to make "para-cord" handle then using whatever para-cord I have to tie tightly around the shoe laces and use that for my day and what are your thoughts on over the paracord wrapping tightly electricians tape? I'm going to be wearing gloves and need to use it all day to cut down bushes and small shrubs.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could wrap it with some cloth strips then cover with duct tape.
