Sync Magazine sometimes asks some celebrity what top ten things they need within arm's reach. Here is Joe Perry's (Aerosmith) list.

At least we agree on one thing, he and I.

For me:

1) My Mercedes-Benz. It is... well... the Mercedes-Benz of cars.

2) A Sanford Uniball Pen. I've always got one.

3) An H&K P7

4) Darrel Ralph knives

5) Argyle Brute. Never miss a champagne-moment.

6) A cork screw and bottle cap lifter. Darrel Ralph knives aren't for opening everything and a P7, while up to the task, can be a bit noisey in social environments.

7) A Leatherman PST

8) A 2-aa maglight

9) My T-mobile Sidekick... I hate this thing... I love this thing...

10) A Bible.

So, let's not limit this to celebrities like Joe and me. What's your top-ten list? How many will you have in common with Joe or me?

1.Music and something to play it on. I would go crazy without music. I have a Denon mini system and a Blaupunkt/ panasonic car stereo/ speakers either would be ok to listen on!

2. My car. Its a Ford not a Merc but that doesnt matter, its the freedom it gives me thats important. (and its still nice to drive :)

3. I agree with the leatherman (or similar) my model of choice is a squirt but thats just because of our knife laws. I have a wave I would carry if I could.

4. I agree with the flashlight, not sure I would pick a mini mag (although they are good with an LED conversion). I have a Peak LED light I carry everywhere so I would have to go with that.

5. Good quality coffee (and perculator!). My personal favourite is a medium / strong roast from Peru.

6. D cell Mag lite. My dad bought me one when I was a kid, I still have it and another besides. I take one with me when I go away, I keep them by my bed, I've converted one of them to a luxeon... you get the idea :)

7. Watch (currently a TAG Kirium)

8. A good quality knife. Its not always in arms reach because of the law here but I pack one when I go away and keep one to hand around the house. Which model? difficult choice. I have an Endura thats been to Europe and America with me several times, low cost, innocent (ish) looking, I wouldnt cry if it was confiscated or I lost it.

9. Cash!

10. ? spectacles maybe. I cant see without them!

Put those specs on my list; I've got two pair. My regular bifocals, and a pair of "computer glasses" which have made my surfing and gaming life much easier.

I do not have "pen love", perhaps as a result of really bad handwriting and being in police work (pens are disposable in the field...). The first big word I ever learned was "atrocious", used by a 3rd-grade teacher to describe my penmanship!

There is usually a leatherman or Swiss army knife close at hand, as I'm always fiddling with something, as well as something to draw-doodle on.

Used to be my guitar was always close, but alas, I finally sold it. (hadn't played in years).

Being in law enforcement, I'm never very far from the old Glock.

Whatever book I'm reading at the time. Just finished Fred Pohl's new one, and I have "1491" on order; an analysis of native cultures in the Americas prior to Columbus.

All I really need within arm's reach is one of my fully-loaded Glock pistols...With that, I can "obtain" anything else I might need.:D.:D.

1. A good reliable EDC knife that im not to afreaid to use because i dont want to dirty it.

2. My 6P SureFire FLashlight.

3. A good multi-tool which for me is my leatherman wave.

4. My I-pod because I dont go anywhere without it.

5. My wallet with my buck gent and my cash and cards.

6. A good set of boots (I dont ever really wear sneakers or shoes).

7. Toothpicks!!!! I always have them and constantly chew on them...its just a habit.

8. Always have some paracord on me weather its in the form of a lanyard or some bundled up cord i have in a pouch or pocket for emergency.

9. Usually my 4x4 Toyota tacoma with extended cab, but its at home now :-(.
