Does anyone else love the blade shape of the Tenacious?

Well we had much flooding in the Northeast and I was very busy with my flooded basement. Used my Tenacious to cut hose and the more difficult task of cutting the liner (hard plastic lip) material around my sump pump. The lip was getting in the way of pushing water into the sump.

Now to cut this also means cutting into some concrete and the Tenacious held up very well. Yes, it became dull but sharpened up easily. Blade got scratched up, but who cares as I had to do the job.

Anyway, this got me thinking, I Love the blade shape of the Tenacious. In fact, it's my favorite of all my Spyderco's. Something about the ffg, good point and lots of belly that makes it a greater cutter.

I would say my second favorite is my G10 ffg Endura in this regard.

I carry mine everyday in my left pocket along with an Endura in my right. It sees all the cutting chores it just works if you know what I mean. I love how easy it is to get it open and the liner lock is awesome as well. So yes I absolutly love mine been carrying it everyday since last july.

This is an interesting topic for me, as I am now searching for a knife which balances weight/thickness (ease of carry), cost, durability, comfort and most important: utility.

This is a tough balance to achieve. I have many knives that have some of these qualities, but lack others. None of them skillfully blend the above attributes in such a way that suits my needs.

So far, the toughest requirement to find is comfort while in use. This is pretty subjective, so it requires hands-on testing...which is time-consuming and expensive, as I have to purchase the knives.

I have found that the Victorinox knives possess many of these attributes. The blades work incredibly well, and the larger knives have pretty comfortable handles. The only downer is that I like pocket clips, tip-up carry and one-hand opening, so the Vics fall short.

The Tenacious and Persistence are on my short-list.

pedalinbob; I don't think you will be disappointed with the Tenacious or Persistence depending on blade length. I don't know how the Persistence feels in the hand compared to the Tenacious as I don't own one. But can tell you the Tenacious feels great in my hand even better than the Endura G10 which is my favorite Spyderco.

Now to cost, the Tenacious and Persistence are relatively inexpensive, but I don't know your budget. You may even prefer the FFG FRN Delica/Endura these run about $60 on-line.

The point of my post was to say that the Tenacious is indeed as it's name implies and to indicate how much I love the blade shape.

i've had and carried my tenacious for about 2 months now. i'll have to say it's one of my favorite spydies. the ergos are perfect for me, and the ffg blade slices like hell. mine locks up like a vault and has no play in the blade at all. considering the price, i think you can't go wrong with a tenacious. if it didn't have china on the blade, you would think it was made in golden. i rescaled mine in green linen micarta just so it would "match" my other green spydies, but the black g-10 scales were very grippy without being to abrasive. i would recomend this knife to anyone!

I'm waiting on a sprint run of the Tenacious and/or Persistence in a better steel.... grumble, grumble...

thanks for the props guys. yea, it's the first time i've made my own folder scales. had to use primitive methods in doing so; scroll saw, dewalt drilldriver, file and sandpaper. they came out ok for a first attempt at it i guess, at least i'm happy with them. the backspacer didn't come out as well as i would have liked, but it's functional.

Don't have a Tenacious but I just recently got a Persistence and it is a great little knife!

It sort of reminds me of a Li'l Temperance in terms of how it feels in my hand. I always regret not having snapped up the Li'l Temperance when I had the chance.

I don't think the Tenacious and Persistence have MBC rated locks but for what I need the knife for, the liner is plenty strong. Opens smoothly and locks up solid.

The Spyderco people have a winner here.

Oh boy... here's another WOW for the scales SuicideFO made... they're awesome!
And like alle the other people in this thread, I love my Tenacious as well...
