So Nutnfancy and Cutlerylover got cut but the Tenacious. My name can finally be scratched off the list as well. Got a nasty little one while closing it with my left hand(I'm right handed). This knife is vicious.
This is the big advantage of the choil: to be also a safety when closing the knife.
A "choil less knife" like the mega sharp Tenacious provide more edge in a compact package but you need to be extra carefull when you close it especially with a liner lock (your finger is on the closing blade path).
Perharps a compression lock Tenacious would avoid that risk ?
Never cut me, but I let two other people fondle a tenacious and it bit them both. It was while they were trying to close the knife and both got cut on the thumb. Funny thing is though, they sell super sharp kitchen cutlery all day everyday.
Yep... the full length cutting edge is to be respected! Nice to have though. I've come close to getting cut a few times with my Persistence. Love it! And remember it's a very sharp knife.
I've been cut with every knife I own, probably because i play with them to much. Right now my tenacious is so sharp it like reaches out and grabs what its cutting.
Since I'm a slave to my vices, and a knife whore, I finally broke down and ordered the Tenacious. However, I'm a huge fan of the Spyderedge, so I bought the fully serrated version. Perhaps the serrations will save me when I invariable close it on my thumb; time will tell. I'm looking forward to the stitches though- can't wait to join the club!
I think the Tenacious is my only folding Spydie that hasn't cut me...
With the full edge+liner lock, I definitely give it respect when closing it, and stick to my same method:
Hold knife edge up, hit lock with thumb and push up on the spine with index finger a cm or so. Remove thumb from "danger zone" and close it the rest of the way...
My turn on the "Hit-List"... by a member of the Tenacious family, namely, the Persistence.
I love this knife so much that I can't stop playing with it... and after a while one almost forgets one is opening & closing a very sharp object... then it happens when you least expect it... from a blade so sharp you hardly even feel it... but you have a sensation that something isn't quite as it should be...
fortunately for me... not a bleeder! But this will definitely slow down my ability to handle my Spydies for a few days. Just about long enough to recover in time for my Cats to arrive!
