I havent posted on here in a while, but you guys convinced me to go buy the Spyderco Tenacious. I've been using it hard here in Hawaii and absolutely love the knife.

Its been used on countless fishing, prawning and wild foraging trips, the belt clip is tight and keeps clipped on to my thin nylon boardshorts. I keep it there when I go prawning and am swimming at times with no worries of the knife falling off. The handle has gotten a little scuffed up from rubbing on rocks. It is a little softer than I thought it would be.

Its the best skinning/field dressing knife I own, outperforming both the schrade sharpfinger and bark river woodland special. The real thin blade just glides through hides and flesh. I had a small well worn diamond rod to keep it touched up and we ended up putting the rest of the knives away since the Tenacious worked so well.

Its the perfect size and rides well in your pocket without the clip, or on your waist with the clip. The steel is great for stainless, Its the only stainless knife I own (I got rid of the rest). It isn't the knife for batoning, chopping or heavy cutting. But that's what you have a 12" ontario for, right?

Can't recommend it enough for the price.

I strongly agree I love my Tenacious, I don't use it for hunting, but in a restaurant and works all the same! Great for slicing through boxes, rip cords, packages etc..

I forgot to add I used it to dispatch a wild boar as well. It's got some oomph for a little balde

I keep hearing good things about this knife and I am thinking about buying it, but what is this 8Cr13Mov Steel it's make out of. I never heard of it. What is it comparable to.

thanks

Bill

It is indeed a very spiffy little slicer. If you don't need to do some of the things that many use their knives for these days, and just want to use it as a knife, it is not only a great value, but a really nice piece of equipment.

To me, the steel behaves like AUS8. It holds its edge for a respectable amount of time, but then a couple of licks on the rod and it is very sharp again. The full flat grind makes it easy to get as sharp as you want.

I don't have the Tenacious, but I have its little brother the Persistence. I say little, but this knife is of fair size. I bought it thinking that with a 2.75" blade it would be close to my slipjoints in size, but it ain't! At first I thought it too big to carry as my small knife, but it cuts so well, and is so well put together, that I could not get it out of my pocket.:D:thumbup:

I agree with midnight flyer about how the steel behaves. I use this knife on a daily basis, and while the tasks are not heavy duty, they are repetitive. Once home I hit each side about 10 strokes on my Sharpmaker and it is good to go for the next day. It would actually go for more days than that w/o sharpening, but it is so easy to do what I do and that way it stays sharp the whole time I'm using it.
