So a couple weeks back (middle of january I think) I lost my tenacious in the snow while working in a customers back yard. This weekend it warmed up enough that I could go find it yesterday when I got to work, of course, it's rained about an inch overnight and yesterday as well as the snow and being outside in the cold.

So I found it, didn't look good

So I took it all apart, and (forgot to take pics of it in pieces).... just used what I had here, since I dnd't have time to mess with sanding or anything like that.

I used my Nevr-Dull polish and took it to the blade and all parts... Here's the result 25 minutes later...

AWESOME!! 3 weeks or so in the cold/snow/water (and with like 3 dogs living in that yard, so who knows what else) and 20 minutes took off all the rust from the blade, it looks almost as good as new. Apparently ole 8Cr13MoV is pretty good stuff at rust resistance...

Love this knife still.

Glad to see that you find your knife and that is was a quick fix for you!

Last winter I lost a Pacific Salt in a deep snow drift and found it a few weeks later---the FRN, Ti, and H1 combination left it not needing or wanting of any maintenance, and the yellow handles made it easy to find in contrast to dead grass and mud!

Now that is a foul-weather folder!

yeah, I have a tasman SE on the way as well, that may take the place of the tenacious for outside work, we'll see.

Too bad it didn't corrode away that China stamp. I love the Tenacious (it is today's carry). Interesting post- thank you. I still say it is the best 30 bucks I have spent. How was the action before and after? Any need for lube?

action was a bit rough before cleaned it, but still quite usable, and better some knives I've used out of the box. I cleaned up, but didn't lube the pivot (didn't have it right at the desk), it's smooth, but I do need to get the oil out and put a few drops in there to smooth it out the last bit.

wow that's impressive how quickly the blade looked like new again. i really need to buy one of them...

Is 8CR13 considered stainless? That knife looks fantastic after that ordeal.

Good job cleaning the Tenacious up.

This is why I try not to EDC anything too expensive, I'm always afraid I'll look down and see it's gone.

Sweet, I love finding things I thought I lost. I found this blue SAK after about 2 years in a box a month ago. It's pretty small, but it was cool. My boyscout knife.

Good job, on finding it and getting back into carryable condition. Now I gotta add another one to the want list... ;)

thx - cpr

ps - note to all - Nev-R-Dull is a great product, but be really careful around lighter colored materials. It'll turn some things dark, real quick. (I found out the hard way.)
