Tenacious tightness/clip question

Greetings,
I got a tenacious for Christmas, and at first the action was impressively smooth, then it suddenly tightened up. Like I got dirt in the bushings or it tightened itself up. The centering is still perfect. Keep in mind, brand new. Thought this was odd.

Secondly, I hate shiny silver clips and want a black one. Sears has online black clips for the Endura and Delica, will these fit my Tenacious or can someone point to where I can get one? I don't want to mess with painting.

Thanks in advance

Spyderco makes a black bladed version of the Tenacious with a black clip, so you might try calling them to see if they can sell you one. Not sure if the clips made for models produced in countries other than China would fit it. As for the other, sounds like you got a bit of dirt somewhere, either in the pivot or on the detent ball. Flush the knife out with hot soapy water, dry thoroughly, and add a drop of oil at the pivot.

With the "gritty" feel when you open it, thats has happened to a couple of mine, and i washed it out and if i flicked it open too much it would happen again. I just oiled it up and its probly my smoothest knife i have owned.
