I've got the urge for a new knife but funds are low lately. So i've been looking at looker priced choices and narrowed it down between these three. Which would you pick and why ? I'm leaning towards the boker m type or the bm vex.

I have no experience with anyknives on your list but with my experience i would go for the vex or the tenacious with an emphasis towards the tenacious because i have heard nothing but praise for it.

I love everything about my tenacious. Im a big spyderco fan, and you will never know it was made in china if someone didnt tell you. The fit/finish/appearance is top notch. In my opinion the same cant be said for Benchmade's red class knives (Im not a fan). The M Type I have never played with.

All three are liner locks.
The Boker 440C will hold an edge better than the 8Cr13Mov Vex or Tenacious, but it is $10 more.
Any will make a nice EDC.

You might also look at a Benchmade Monochrome. Framelock with N690 steel that definitely holds an edge better than the 8Cr13Mov.
There's a review of it here:

The Tenacious is a fantastic knife. I can't speak for the others as I have never tried them, but I have heard good things about both.

The Boker M-Type I could never get around to getting just because the other CLB design, the Trance, is so good I can't imagine anything else being better. So you might want to consider the Trance as well.

Personally, I prefer the Tenacious over the Vex. I have no experience with the Boker M type, so I can't comment on that. I do like 440C better than 8Cr13Mov, though.

I've handled the Vex and own the Tenacious. The Tenacious is an incredibly made knife for the cost. I remember the Vex as being pretty nice, but could not get over the fact that Benchmade was using Spyderco's hole. I also remember it's handle being a bit too thick for my tastes. I have not handled the Boker yet.

Get a Kershaw Needs Work. A very handy little wharncliffe, made in the USA, for about 30 bucks. The Tenacious might be to your liking though.....

The Tenacious is awsome...can't say too much more about. It is the best knife I have ever bought with that little money. I really like the steel they use and it suprised me how long it held an edge. I would say in this application that I prefer it to 440c because spyderco runs it pretty hard, and it takes a better edge IMO. The fit and finish is great, on par with the the USA made spydercos, maybe even a little better than my Native which came with an edge that needed thinned and some work to make it shave. Get one you won't regret it.

All the Boker CLB designs have been great, but I have never thought of them as being a sole edc, they are just missing that something for me. But YMMV. Nice knives for the money though.

I had a Vex and really liked it at first, but it never saw much pocket time and I never got attached to it. I sold it and havn't missed it. It was nicely done, not quite as nice as the USA Benchmades but close enough to justify bying one. I really like Aus-8 as well, it actually reminds me of 8Cr13Mov but a little softer. Plenty good enough for me. The handle was a little quare and straight and it has a kind of coating on the blade (which I don't like on a user).

Big fan of the vex. Wonderful high flat grind on a decent steel. Handle, while boxy and large fills the hand and is comfortable.

I don't know about the Vex (never had one) but I can recommend either Tenacious or M-Type...
I posted comparison pix here:

Both appear to have 3mm thick blades, the full flat ground Tenacious vs. the hollow ground recurve of the M-Type.
M-Type has only righthand tipup/tipdown clip mounting options but has a "lowrider" clip design (esp. in the tip down position); Tenacious has 4-way clip options; the MType is a framelock with thumbstuds; Tenacious has the Spyderhole (which i prefer) and is a linerlock.
In the "forward grip" I prefer the bigger/deeper/"more aggressive?" jimping on the locks in the forefinger choil area of the MType over the Tenacious; feels a little less likely for the indexfinger to slide forward onto the blade (like in thrusting).
The closed length of the MType is around 0.5 cm longer than the Tenacious but the thickness of the closed MType is around 2mm thinner than the Tenacious (not including the Clips).
The G-10 material on both knives have a similar texture but the single G-10 scale on the M-Type is maybe 0.5mm thicker and has has 0.5mm(?) deep grooves milled out of the scale which Significantly enhances the traction/grip of the M-Type over the Tenacious. The blade surface of the M-Type is covered with a Titanium coating that is very abrasion resistant, but the price of the M-Type is like $10-12 more than that of the Tenacious.
