Hey guys, i am thinking about getting my first spyderco, but i cant decide between the manix 2 and the tenacious. Which one is better?

I have both.. I like the Manix as it melts into my hand.. That said.. I abused my Tenicious while putting a roof on my garage and it did all that was asked of it and that was ALOT!! John

My Tenacious was at almost 100% lock engagement right out of the box. Not a big deal and it went into the car console. Granted it does get a lot of use there and performs as it should but in the end I'd take the G-10 Manix any day and twice on Tuesdays.

I own both. Manix has better steel, better ergos, better G10, better fit and finish. That said, the Tenacious is a great knife for the price. I'm happy with both of them.

Go with the Manix, then pick up a s110v lw manix and drop the blade in the g10 body.
There are plenty of s30v knives, and a lot of spydercos in that steel. You can eventually use the manix 2 g10 as a carrier for the upgraded steel. You can use the time to save up and shop around. By then you should have some other knives, likely some in s30v, but not likely any others in s110v.

I have both and the Manix 2 is a better knife. It should be better since it is roughly twice the price, but that doesn't mean it is twice the knife.

Interesting comparison. Initially, buying my first, I was choosing between the Tenacious and the Delica. I chose the Delica.
More recently I decided between the Manix 2, and the Paramilitary 2. I chose the PM2. The Manix is still on my radar, however, the Tenacious is not. More food for thought.

Manix 2.

The PM2 is now on my radar, thanks to ^This guy

I have a Manix 2 and a PM2 and carry both. You will find threads comparing them. The Manix 2 will feel like a more solid knife than the PM2, mostly because it is a bit heavier. The PM2 is a bit slimmer and easier to carry in your pocket. I don't know if it is less solid or not. The Tenacious is between the PM2 and Manix 2 in size and weight. If I had to choose between the PM2 and M2, I would probably choose the PM2 because it is a bit slimmer and lighter.

I just had a second Manix 2 delivered today....a DLC coated one. The Manix 2 is turning into one of my favorite Spydercos....but the Tenacious is a great knife also.

But....

Hypno Frog commands you to buy the Manix 2!

Manix hands down. Better blade steel, stronger better lock, better ergos, and better quality in general.

Manix 2 all the way. You can't go wrong with a Tenacious, but in every category the Manix 2 beats it except for ease of disassembly-reassembly on most Manix 2s. Some Manix 2s are non-pinned construction though.

Yeah, Manix 2, in any flavor:

Old photo, but the middle, and all knives to the left are a Manix variety. The middle is the xl. If you like HUGE blades, this is for you. The blue light weight is easiest to carry, but the normal sized g10 are my favorites.

Be careful, Spyderco blades seem to multiply quickly, and your wallet seems to have a direct link to the factory. :)

They are both great knives.

I could not like the ball bearing lock no matter how hard I tried. If the tenacious came out with an s110v blade that would be awesome.

Pull the knife apart and strop/polish the components. They move more easily after, significantly so.

I actually just got both of those knives in black g10. The manix 2 is my favorite knife right now. I put a lynch deep carry clip on it. The ball bearing lock feels amazing!
