That degree of lockup is safe. It only becomes a problem if the engagement is so late that the tab hits the opposite scale and doesn't firmly contact the tang.
Painfully early lockup is fashionable with some folks, but to me it just means that the lock is that much closer to being completely disengaged accidentally.

Yes, you should worry about that knife lasting a loooong time. You'll have no excuse for replacing it for a while.
